Heritage preservation meets modernity
The apartment is located in the heart of Kiev in a listed building. The architects sought to preserve, restore and use as many original features as possible, finding the right balance between old and new, while maintaining the integrity of the entire space.
The interior walls have been partially removed, thus exposing the old brick and ceiling beams. White panels along the walls in the basement, high ceilings and the almost complete abandonment of partitions give the room a sense of spaciousness. Originally existing elements, such as the original corner chimney, as well as new, modern architectural elements are used in the apartment. The attic with its modern loft character has been constructed without historical elements, but thanks to its uniform design it blends into the overall concept like a natural extension.
Architectural solutions include integrated window blinds hidden in the panelled walls of the attic and a multifaceted handmade metal staircase leading from the ground floor to the attic.
The LS 990 design classic in white and anthracite has been installed to match the monochrome interiors.
